This year we introduced a new email channel called ‘Your Footprint’, which has enabled us to improve communication about Fashion Footprint-related topics, such as charity activities, volunteering and wellbeing on a regular basis.
This year we celebrated the launch of the Fashion Footprint digital report with a complimentary reusable water bottle. The bottle was selected in response to a request from employees to reduce waste such as plastic cups and bottles.
This year, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation was announced as our new Fashion Footprint charity partner for the next three years. They were chosen by our employees from a shortlist of charities.
Health and Wellbeing
Another major focus this year was employee health and wellbeing.
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we offered free fitness and meditation classes, treats and tips to boost mental health and resilience, including mindfulness guides and a visit from the Mental Health Foundation. The restaurant in our London head office joined in by offering a special mood-boosting menu!
We consistently focus not just on what we do but how we do it, and this year we updated our ‘expectations’ for our employees.
These Leadership Expectations set out the behaviours that reflect our values at every level within our head office functions, supporting our people to fulfil their potential.
This year we launched our first head office higher level apprenticeship programme. Developed in partnership with the Fashion Retail Academy (FRA), this two-year merchandising skills programme saw 13 apprentices join our business.
With each of our brands welcoming at least one apprentice, this new generation of talent has taken part in a mix of on-the-job development and regular off-site training at the FRA.
Our age and gender statistics illustrate that Arcadia is a young and predominately female organisation, which is in keeping with the retail sector as a whole.
In retail, 84% of our employees are female, while at head office 73% of the population is female.
In terms of age, 77% of the retail workforce is under 35, while at head office 64% of the workforce is under 35
